Rowan Class Find Out About The Digestive System!

On Monday 6th November Rowan class learnt all about the digestive system!

Firstly, they used drumsticks as teeth to grind and chew (crush up) the bread.

Then they used a toilet roll tube to act as the oesophagus.

The bread travelled down this and into a plastic bag, the stomach, and was then mixed with water, stomach acid, which broke down the bread.

They used their hands to squeeze the broken down bread, just like our muscles do when it is in our stomach.

From the stomach the food travelled to the large intestine, our balloon. Here the nutrients  from the food goes through tiny pin size holes into our blood stream.

The remainder of the food is waste and goes through the small intestine and out through the rectum.
