Remembrance at St Faith's Church

In preparation for Remembrance, this week all the children brought a stone into school, they each painted a red poppy on their stone and had it varnished, they looked beautiful.

This morning, (Friday 9th November) all the staff and children walked round to St Faith's church where they met with the Rev Nigel Fry to pay their respects in advance for Remembrance day, which is this coming Sunday.

He showed them the newly refurbished War Memorial in the churchyard.  Then, the children laid their stones along the side of the church path, in remembrance of all those who died for us during the wars, and to mark the 100th anniversary since the end of WW1.  We have 96 children and four teachers in school so we had exactly 100 painted poppy stones!

After the stones were laid, the children went into church where they said a prayer with the Rev Nigel Fry and also Rory and May both recited the famous war poem, 'Flanders Fields'.  Rev Nigel read the names out of every single soldier from Kilsby, who lost their life, and after 'The Last Post' was sounded, we held a minutes silence in respect of all those who lost their lives fighting for us.

If you have time you might like to take a look up in churchyard at the stones.
