Our sports afternoon this year took place on Thursday 11th July. Parents and grandparents were invited to come along and join the children for a picnic lunch on the field followed by an afternoon packed with sporting activities including sprint and long distances races, relay, bean bag, egg and spoon, three legged race and of course the usual Mun and Dad races too!
The children were looking forward to running on our new Astro Turf sports track! Which has only recently completed on Friday 5th July. The children found it brilliant, and are very lucky to have such fantastic sporting facilities.
Before the afternoon began, the children had a special visit from a Katie Summerhayes GB Olympian Silver Medalist for Snowsport Freestyle Skiing, who spoke with the children about what it's like being an Olympian and the dedication, discipline and commitment required to become an Olympian. She end up staying for the whole afternoon.
The children were split into their House groups for the sports. The points were all totalled up at the end of the afternoon and Stephenson House won overall! Our Sports Person of the Year Cup went to Grace and Joseph won the Award for Sports Teamwork. Congratulation to them both and to everyone for taking part and their great sportsmanship. We hope all the parents and grandparents enjoyed the afternoon as much as we did!
