District Football Tournament

Yesterday a team of our Year 5 & Year 6 boys entered a district football tournament.

Wet and slippy conditions made it very difficult to control the ball. The rain started to pour but that only encouraged the boys even more.

A late drop out meant we were down a player, but we didn't let that dampen our spirits. With our heads held high we played to the best of our ability.

We headed into the sheds down but not out! After a dry off and a kit change, it was back out onto the paddock for our regrouping, we were placed in our finals pool with fellow IMAT school Badby. A win against Overstone would've pitted us against Badby for an inter-trust match up. The game ended 2-2 meaning it went to penalties. Hari, our goalkeeper, was ready and raring to go, beaming with confidence. After a few nerve-settling words from Miss Walton (who was leading Badby today), the boys backed themselves for the shootout! Unfortunately, narrowly losing out on penalties, our day was over. We then cheered Badby on in their final!

We were very proud of all the children involved, it's never easy to go out in those conditions and play a tactical game but, nonetheless, they did it with pride.
