Week beginning Monday 2nd November, all the children in school experienced a Parliament week. During this time they found out what Parliament is, what it means to them and even took part in a campaign of their own.
They worked together with Mr Harold Gibbs, Chairman of the Parish Council who put forward the issue of speeding in Kilsby. On Monday the children had to put themselves forward and persuade their class why they would be the best representative. Once a representative had been selected, they had to create a campaign brief containing ideas to prevent speeding in the village.
On Thursday of that week, a Google meet was held with Howard and the rest of the school to deliver all the great ideas that each class had. Friday was voting day! All the children had a ballot paper to vote for their favourite campaign, the votes were counted and a winner announced. The verdict will be delivered to the Parish Council, and will contribute towards resolving the issue of speeding in the village.
The children really enjoyed this experience and now understand a lot more about the concept of voting and democracy.
