Ancient Egyptian Day!

Today the Year 2, 3 & 4 children in Cedar and Hazel classes enjoyed an Ancient Egyptian day!

They all came to school dressed as Ancient Egyptians, they looked fabulous!

Their day started with a visit from Queen Cleopatra who came in to school to talk to them all about the Ancient Egyptians, how they lived, what they wore, what they ate, they heard all about Pharaohs, pyramids and mummification. They found it so interesting and had lots of questions themselves.

The children had a go at Egyptian dancing, building pyramids and playing a game of Mancala which is a strategy board game played in those times, with small stones, beans or seeds and rows of holes or pits in the earth, a board or other surface.  The objective is usually to capture all or some of the opponent's pieces.

All this is just this morning, there is more fun to come this afternoon!
